It feels like an NBA tradition to talk about including expansion teams in the league, except this year gave fans a bit of hope for the future.

During NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s All-Star Weekend press conference, Silver addressed the rumors, stating the league is making forward progress in expansion talks, with Las Vegas and Seattle as the two front-runners.

Both cities each bring their own unique flavor to the table. Las Vegas has seen a year-to-year increase during the NBA Summer League, drawing fans from both the city and around the world to see the brightest young stars compete for 11 straight days. As for Seattle, their rich and deep history with the SuperSonics, dating back to the 1967-98 season, would open the door to re-open a team that fans haven’t seen in 18 years.

So, what exactly does that mean for the New York Knicks? When the expansion draft takes place, all 30 teams will be allowed to protect just 8 of the 15 players on their main rosters. Yes, you read that right. That means Leon Rose will have to make some very serious decisions regarding the main roster and which players he could risk letting go. It feels almost too easy to say who the first five players New York would protect, but figuring out who to roll the dice on appears a bit uneven.

That’s where you fall into place. Who would YOU protect in a potential expansion draft?
