In disappointing fashion, the New York Knicks lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 108-100. New York controlled the action for the first half, but it always seemed like they should’ve been leading by more. The Knicks’ defense held Atlanta to 47 points in the half, which helped them get away with poor shooting and maintain an eight-point lead heading into the third.
Their defense collapsed in the third quarter, with Trae Young picking New York apart in the pick-and-roll. Atlanta outworked New York, winning battles on the glass and outpacing the Knicks in transition. Karl-Anthony Towns’ foul trouble helped seal the Knicks’ fate, as no one else was big enough to keep the Hawks out of the paint.
This disappointing performance looks a lot like previous losses. A young, athletic team contained New York’s offense and outran their defense. Let’s take a closer look at individual performances.
