The New York Knicks’ ugly start to the season continued as they lost on the road to the Chicago Bulls 135-125. New York managed its worst defensive effort of the young season, and their second unit was badly outplayed.
The Knicks started the game with a lead, but Chicago quickly made a run to close the gap. The momentum fully swung to the Bulls as soon as the second units entered, with Ayo Dosunmo making a significant impact. New York’s wing defenders got into foul trouble early thanks to Chicago’s relentless rim pressure, and the defense folded as they softened up.
By halftime, the Knicks were giving up transition buckets even after their own made baskets, leaving them with a 19-point deficit. But New York stepped up defensively in the third quarter, and Karl-Anthony Towns created chaos by driving and drawing fouls.
The Knicks kept the run going into the fourth, cutting the lead to two points. But Chicago made another run that put things out of reach.
It’s a frustrating result, but there were flashes at both ends of the floor. Let’s look at the Knicks’ performances.
