The New York Knicks blew a chance to close out their series against the Detroit Pistons at MSG, losing 106-103. The Knicks had a golden opportunity, but looked flat to start the night.
New York started slow, with their star players missing shots. Josh Hart picked things up for the offense, while everyone stepped up defensively. OG Anunoby picked things up in the second quarter, and the Knicks held a one-point lead.
The third quarter proved nightmarish for the Knicks. New York picked up foolish fouls and let Detroit build a lead as high as ten points. It took an energizing push from Mitchell Robinson to spark a comeback.
The Knicks fought back to even the score, but Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson both left injured down the stretch. The Knicks lost precious time and possessions while the pair waited to get back into the game. They got back on with 27 seconds left and a six-point deficit, which was too much to overcome.
The loss was a gut punch, marked by poor free-throw shooting, bad fouls, and lackluster play. Let’s see how the key players performed.
