The New York Knicks went ice cold, losing to the Miami Heat 115-107. New York attempted 54 three-pointers and only made 15 of them.

Jalen Brunson did his best to keep New York close, scoring double-digits in the first and third quarters. But as soon as he sat, the Knicks’ offense fell to predictable jumpers often after only one pass or a bailout. The drive and kick game never got going.

Missed long jumpers turned into transition opportunities for Miami, and New York’s transition defense couldn’t keep up. The Heat pushed the pace and leaked out for easy buckets throughout the second half.

The bench shot especially poorly, making just one of eighteen attempts from three and shooting 22% from the field overall. They sorely missed Deuce McBride’s presence at both ends of the court, as nobody stepped up in his absence.

When you play fast and aim to spread the floor, it’s easy to slip into settling for contested jumpers. That happened too often tonight. Let’s have a closer look at the performances.
