The New York Knicks took a commanding lead in their first-round series against the Pistons, defeating Detroit 94-93. The Knicks’ veteran stars made clutch plays, while Cade Cunningham came up short on his opportunity to win the game.
The Knicks set the tone early by playing aggressive defense that forced Detroit into frequent turnovers. The pressure helped New York dominate the majority of the half, but they gave up a run in the final two minutes of the half that left the Pistons with momentum.
Detroit came out of halftime with extra energy. The game grew increasingly physical, and the Pistons took control. Jalen Brunson left for the locker room injured, and Karl-Anthony Towns did all he could to keep the game within reach.
Brunson returned in the fourth quarter, and along with Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, proceeded to make clutch basket after clutch basket. KAT gave New York a lead in the waning moments, and it took one more stop against Cade Cunningham, but the Knicks left Detroit up 3-1 in the series.
Let’s look at the victory through standout efforts.
