New York Knicks win back-to-back games by double-digits: Beginning to look dominant
Knicks keep rolling with two more easy wins.
The New York Knicks defeated opponents on consecutive nights by a combined 38 points, beating the Brooklyn Nets 114-104 and then dominating the Washington Wizards 134-106.
The Knicks started their double-header against the Nets. They needed a late jumper from Jalen Brunson to beat Brooklyn a game prior, but this time was less stressful. The Knicks controlled most of the action, but the Nets kept up thanks to three-point shooting. Karl-Anthony Towns’ presence made the difference, as the Knicks pulled away in the third quarter and closed strong this time.
A night later, New York’s game against the Wizards was never close. They sprinted to a double-digit lead, with everyone sharing the ball and scoring effectively. The second half felt like garbage time to everyone but Tom Thibodeau. The Knicks won easily, and we got a peek at the rookies.
Let’s look at the performances with notable impacts from the past two nights.
Notable Performances
The Knicks’ leaders are double-double machines
Jalen Brunson
Vs. Brooklyn: 12 PTS (3/14 FG, 0/5 3PT, 6/8 FT), 10 AST, 5 REB, 2 STL, 3 TO in 34 mins
Vs, Washington: 26 PTS (9/15 FG, 5/9 3PT, 3/3 FT), 11 AST, 1 REB, 1 STL in 30 mins
While Jalen Brunson struggled with his shot against Brooklyn, he provided exactly what fans hoped for. Brunson couldn’t beat the Nets’ pressure and double-teams alone on a hobbled ankle, so he set the table for everyone else.
The captain’s scoring got back on track against Washington, but that didn’t stop him from creating for everyone else. Brunson finished both games with double-doubles; the only difference was three-point shooting.
