The New York Knicks defeated the Brooklyn Nets despite missing two starters, winning 113-100. The Knicks’ star players stepped up while some young players took advantage of extra minutes.
New York got off to a slow start, possibly because it deployed a new starting lineup. Miles McBride and Josh Hart started in place of the injured OG Anunoby and sick Mitchell Robinson. The Nets took an early lead, but New York settled in by the time their second unit got to work. KAT led a second-quarter run with Josh Hart and Tyler Kolek helping, but the Knicks got sloppy with the ball before halftime.
New York took the game over from the start of the third quarter. Jalen Brunson joined Towns in scoring at will, and the Nets couldn’t keep up. The Knicks’ lead continued to balloon until the starters left the floor early, and the mop-up units finished the game.
Beating the Nets won’t inspire many doubters to come around to this team. But it’s a great sign that Karl-Anthony Towns snapped out of his slump. Let’s take a look at the game through the key contributors.
