The New York Knicks crushed the Charlotte Hornets 129-101, ending their road trip on a winning note. The game felt under control almost immediately, as the Knicks methodically took over.

The Knicks didn’t run away early. They left Charlotte open for enough three-pointers to hang close. But New York ended the first quarter on a flurry, and a buzzer-beating layup from Mikal Bridges gave them a six-point lead. Everyone on the Knicks had a hot hand for the second quarter, which led to a 25-point lead by halftime.

New York didn’t overwhelm the Hornets as badly in the second half, but they did enough to maintain their more than 20-point lead throughout the final quarters.

This dominant victory came with New York shooting fewer three-pointers than normal. Their ability to attack the paint decisively should open up opportunities beyond the arc as opponents try to adjust. Let’s take a closer look at the win.
